DESCRIPTION

 

The University of California, Irvine has an opportunity for a postdoctoral positions within the laboratories of Andrea Tenner and Ali Mortazavi to work on projects related to neuroinflammatory mechanims of Alzheimer’s diseases. This position requires a Ph.D. degree in one of the following disciplines: systems biology, genomics, or neuroinflammation. A major focus will be on tissue and single cell RNAseq and data analysis, from aged transgenic and wild type mice as well as biochemical analysis. Prior experience in RNA-seq, single-cell RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, mammalian regulatory conservation, and/or integrative analysis of genomics data is helpful. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, creative thinking, and initiative. The goal of this project is to characterize complement-protein dependent pathways to enable for therapeutic intervention in Alzheimer’s disease.



In addition to the two PIs, the successful candidate will consult with others in UCI’s highly interactive and innovative neuroscience and immunology community. Candidate should have a record of completed graduate research that can be applied to the fields of interest listed above, with a strong publication record. The position will be appointed at the level that is commensurate with the education and experience of the individual candidate and is for a period of one year with the possibility of renewal.
