The role
The successful appointee will conduct research on the mechanobiology of host-pathogen interactions under the supervision of Professor Alpha Yap. The appointee will be expected to conduct their own research project in the Yap group; develop and apply quantitative approaches that include analysis of cell and tissue mechanics; collaborate as part of a multi-disciplinary team that includes cell biologists, optical microscopists, physicists and materials scientists; and supervise undergraduate and Research higher-degree students. The appointee will be expected to communicate their findings in peer-reviewed papers and conferences.


The person
Applicants must have a PhD with experience in the cell biology of host-pathogen interactions and a track record of international peer-reviewed publications in this field. It is essential to have experience in experimental analysis of intracellular infections using modern cell biological tools to dissect the role that host cytoskeletal regulation plays in the infection process. You should have a strong desire to develop a productive research career, develop expertise in new experimental approaches, and have the capacity to work in a multidisciplinary research team.

This role is a full-time position; however flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.


This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 2 years at Academic level A. The remuneration package will be in the range $77,307- $89,285 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $90,449- $104,464 p.a.).
