Research Assistant/Associate (Fixed Term)

The Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology has a vacancy for a Research Assistant/Research Associate working with Dr Gabriele Kaminski Schierle's Molecular Neuroscience Group.


The postholder will form part of a team whose primary research focus is to understand the molecular basis of neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease. They will to work with and develop cellular diseases models in order to elucidate the pathways influencing the seeding and aggregation of alpha-synuclein at a cellular level. The post holder will have extensive experience in cell biology, multiparametric cell imaging and microscopic techniques, including super-resolution microscopy. They will have a PhD (or be close to completing a PhD) in Biophysics, Bioengineering or a similar subject area and be self motivated to achieve research objectives. They will also be able to work closely with interdisciplinary teams of researchers and commercial sponsors and demonstrate their ability to write reports and present results and contribute to academic papers.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 March 2021 in the first instance.
