Research assistant as PhD student at the Institute of Molecular Cell Biology University of Münster, Institute for Molecular Cell Biology Germany

At the Institute for Molecular Cell Biology of WWU Münster, the working group for Quantitative Cell Biology (Prof. Dr. Carsten Grashoff) is now open

Research assistant as a doctoral student

Salary group 13 TV-L (65%). The position is initially limited to three years. The full-time weekly working hours are currently 39 hours and 50 minutes

The working group was recently appointed to the WWU Münster and is an international leader in the field of molecular force sensor microscopy, with which forces of a few Piconewton can be visualized and quantified in cells. The research project is concerned with the analysis of molecular force transmission in epithelial cells by means of newly developed FRET-based force sensors and fluorescence lifetime microscopy (FLIM). The project combines biochemical and cell biological studies with complex data analysis and innovative imaging techniques. The results should provide novel insights into the molecular mechanisms of cell transmission and familiarize applicants with a range of important cell biological and biophysical techniques.

The young and dynamic working group is expected to be highly motivated by the applicants, as well as excellent academic achievements demonstrated by an above-average thesis (diploma, master). Previous knowledge in molecular biology, cell biology or experience in MatLab-based data analysis is desirable.

The WWU Münster advocates gender justice and aims to increase the proportion of women in research and teaching. Applications from women are therefore expressly desired; Women are given preference for the same suitability, aptitude and professional performance, provided that no reasons prevail in the person of a competitor. Handicapped persons are preferentially employed with the same qualifications.

Application documents (curriculum vitae, publication list, summary of previous research, names of two potential reviewers) are to be sent by 15 February 2019 to: grashoff@uni-muenster.de
