The Plant Ecology Group at the University of Tübingen is searching for a 

PhD student / doctoral candidate in Plant Ecology (m/f/d, E13 TV-L 65%, limited to 36 months)

The position is part of a French-German collaborative project entitled HYPERSAPCE, which is funded within an ANR-DFG funding scheme and led by the University of Bordeaux. HYPERSAPE deals with the ecological and evolutionary consequences of metal hyperaccumulation in plants. 

The subproject located at the University of Tübingen will investigate why metal hyperaccumulation has evolved in certain plant species, and to what extent this trait can be plastically modified by abiotic and biotic stress such as drought, herbivory, and competition. The candidate is expected to design, conduct, and analyze a series of greenhouse experiments with several common European metal hyperaccumulators, and to closely collaborate with other colleagues in the consortium who address the question from a molecular to an ecosystem level.

We are seeking a candidate with excellent team spirit, high motivation, and profound knowledge in designing and analyzing ecological experiments. In addition, the candidate should be willing to work in an interdisciplinary and international environment. The candidate should hold an M.Sc. degree in ecology or a related field. Furthermore, the candidate should have excellent English writing and presentation skills.
