Appointment Period:

August 14, 2019 to May 2, 2020; annually renewable nine(9) month appointment

 

Responsibilities: Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

 

Specific Duties:

Teach biology courses which may include Developmental Science, Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Microbiology with a typical load of 16-18 contact hours per week. Teaching assignments may include day, evening and/or weekend. Be prepared to support electronic course management systems and hybrid course delivery modalities.

 

Provide 10 office hours per week for student advising, curriculum development (including lab preparation), online course development/delivery, textbook review/selection and participation in college-wide and departmental assessment activities.

 

Provide 10 hours of professional and community service, including attending faculty and curriculum meetings, participation in professional development, mentoring adjunct instructors, serving on College committees, and community and professional activities.

 

Strives for maximizing student success through continuous improvement planning based on assessment data and student learning outcome evidence.

 

Foster an atmosphere of inclusiveness and support for our diverse student population.

 

Be committed to the implementation of the philosophy and conceptual framework of Rhodes State College and its Arts & Sciences Division.

 

Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Major Work Qualifications: Minimum of a Master's degree in Biology or Anatomy & Physiology, or Master's in a closely related field with at least eighteen semester hours (or the quarterly equivalent) of graduate courses in Biology or Anatomy & Physiology. PhD preferred. Previous teaching experience at the two-year and/or four-year college level is preferred. Ability to interact positively with students and colleagues is essential. Must be committed to the two-year college mission and quality instruction.

 

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
