This post will be associated with the discipline of Bioinformatics in the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Applied Mathematics at NUI Galway. The successful applicant for the lectureship must have:

• A PhD (or equivalent) in Bioinformatics, Statistics, Computer Science or a related discipline
• An active research profile in Genomics as evidenced by research publications
• Demonstrable expertise in the development and application of techniques for Genomics data analysis, including analysis of high-throughput sequencing data
• The capacity to develop and deliver modules as part of the MSc programmes in Biomedical Genomics and Computational Genomics at NUI Galway


The duties of the successful candidate will be to:

• Teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
• Engage in research within the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Applied Mathematics
• Direct the MSc programmes in Biomedical and Computational Genomics
• Contribute through collaborative research and by building appropriate computational systems to a campus-wide initiative to integrate Genomics research
• Contribute to the broader programme of activities within the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Applied Mathematics.


The position is available from 1 August 2019.


At Lecturer Below the Bar level


€37,979 to €58,944 p.a. (applicable to new entrants effective from January, 2011)


(This appointment will be made on the Lecturer Below the Bar scale in line with current Government pay policy)

(For pre 1995 public sector entrants in Ireland, the D class Salary rates will apply)
