Post Doc Position in RhoA Function in Cancer
University of Copenhagen

Postdoc in RhoA function in cancer at BRIC, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, Denmark

We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic researcher for a 2 year post doc position starting in April 2019 in the Brakebusch lab. The Brakebusch lab is located at the Biotech Research and Innovation Center (BRIC) (www.bric.ku.dk/Research/Brakebusch_Group/), which is a Center of Excellence in biomedical research with around 200 scientists.

Our research
Rho GTPases such as RhoA, Rac1 and Cdc42 are important regulators of the cytoskeleton, but also involved in signal transduction processes regulating proliferation, differentiation and survival. An E40Q point mutations in RhoA is considered to be a driver mutation in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma and probably also in breast cancer and lung adenocarcinoma. Based on cancer genome analysis and own research with RhoA function in skin tumor, we hypothesize that RhoA E40Q is a partially inactive RhoA mutant with a cancer promoting role in HNSCC.

Your job
Aim of this project is to test and validate the tumor promoting role of RHOA E40Q in vivo and in vitro and to investigate the underlying molecular mechanism. RhoA E40Q function in tumor development will be studied using novel genetically modified mice expressing RhoAE40Q, which will be prepared in collaboration with the Transgenic Mouse Core Facility at the University of Copenhagen. This work will help to identify additional drug targets for precision oncology therapy of HNSCC RHOA E40Q patients.

Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following competencies and experience:

Essential experience and skills:

  • A PhD in biological/biomedical science
  • Strong experience in cell culture and molecular biology
  • Experience in handling mice
  • High interest in cancer research
  • Proficient communication skills and ability to work in teams
  • Excellent English skills written and spoken

Desirable experience and skills:

  • Experience in isolation and culture of primary keratinocytes
  • Experience in CRISPR genome editing
