The School is based largely within the Wallace Wurth (Medicine) and Biosciences Buildings on the Kensington campus, but also includes the UNSW Lifestyle Clinic on High Street, Randwick. Website

  • 2 - Year Fixed Term, Full time opportunity
  • Level A: $78K - $104K (+17% Superannuation & leave loading)
  • Based at Kensington Campus, Sydney, Australia
  • Full working rights will be required for the duration of the contract

A Post-Doctoral Fellow (Level A) is expected to contribute towards the research effort of UNSW and to develop their research expertise through the pursuit of defined projects relevant to their particular field of research.

The Post-Doctoral Fellow will seek to develop new compounds to enhance embryo formation in the context of impaired development from maternal ageing and is to be jointly conducted with the School of Women’s and Children’s Health. The position will involve identifying and investigating new compounds from small molecule drug screens, measurements of cell metabolism including isotope tracing-based metabolomics, assessing embryo development, standard molecular biology and cell biology techniques.

Key Skills and Experience: 

  • A PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry or a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
  • Experience in the fields of cell metabolism, metabolomics and reproductive biology an advantage
  • Experience in data visualisation and analysis for large datasets viewed favourably, e.g. using packages in R.
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
  • Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
