Postdoctoral Position in Cell Biology and Biochemistry of the Placenta

The research group of Prof. Christiane Albrecht, Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine (https://www.ibmm.unibe.ch/) investigates the role of membrane proteins in the maternal-fetal transfer of nutrients and develops highly sophisticated models to study the maternal-fetal barrier. Currently there is an opening for a postdoctoral position which is available immediately for the duration of 2 years.

We are looking for a highly motivated and talented postdoctoral researcher with a successful PhD degree and outstanding references in the area of molecular biology, biochemistry and placental biology. The postdoctoral researcher will develop a novel 3D model representing the maternal-fetal barrier that will be used to monitor maternal-fetal drug transfer. Our lab uses cell biological models, molecular biology and biochemical methods. Beside a genuine interest in basic research and bioengineering, the ambitious candidate must have a strong background in placental biology and profound experience in the isolation and characterization of placental cells. The candidate will lead a project together with Prof. Albrecht and will be part of a bigger team working on reproductive biology with a focus on the placenta. Fluent spoken and written English are prerequisites. The position is part of the 3R (replace, reduce, refine) initiative to reduce animal experimentation and is funded by the Swiss 3R Competence Centre (3RCC). Salaries are paid according to the guidelines of the Swiss National Science Foundation. Strong emphasis is put on equal opportunities for career development.

How to apply: Please send your application, which should include a motivation letter, CV and references (letters /contact information of two references) by email to: Mrs. Barbara Järmann (info@ibmm.unibe.ch). Successful applicants will be invited to visit the lab and talk to Prof. Christiane Albrecht and the group members. Applications will be accepted until the vacancy is filled.
