We are seeking to appoint two Postdoctoral Research Assistants interested in the mechanisms of protein degradation and quality control at the endoplasmic reticulum to join Professor Pedro Carvalho’s group based at the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology, University of Oxford.


The postholders will be responsible for carrying out research project and contribute conceptually to the overall research programme. You will work with limited supervision to identify, develop, modify and apply the necessary techniques to achieve the goals of the project. The postholders should be able to establish and optimise protocols, supervise and train junior staff in molecular biology/genetics as well as interpret and present the data for publication. You will also be responsible for overseeing the daily housekeeping of the laboratory and performing any other comparable duties as may be required to ensure the efficient running of the laboratory.


The postholders should hold, or being close to completion of, PhD in molecular/cell biology, biochemistry or related subject. You should be a highly motivated individual, with excellent training in cell biology and biochemistry to join an established and diverse group focused on fundamental questions on the ubiquitin system regulates organelle function and organization, using both yeast and mammalian cells. Experience in the analysis of ubiquitinated proteins or in structural biology would be advantageous. An excellent publication record, ability to work independently and good organizational and communication skills are essential.
