Professor of Biomaterials
Ref PAR 2020/1254 Apply The University of Gothenburg tackles society’s challenges with diverse knowledge. 53 500 students and 6 500 employees make the university a large and inspiring place to work and study. Strong research and attractive study programmes attract scientists and students from around the world. With new knowledge and new perspectives, the University contributes to a better future. The Institute of Clinical Sciences, Department of Biomaterials, is internationally renowned in the field of tissue integration of implants and prostheses. The deciphering of the mechanisms of integration versus the failure of integration is important for the development of novel implants for clinical use. Research is performed in collaborative projects with Swedish and international universities and companies. The department is a driver in several projects with clinical colleagues and material science experts. Examples are studies on the mechanisms of osteoinduction of bioceramics, cell-material and bacteria-material interactions and osseointegrated amputation prostheses (Strategic governmental research grants together with Chalmers, the Swedish Research Council, the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research, VINNOVA, and the Sahlgrenska University Hospital). Three of the current projects are performed together with European research partners (EU projects).
