Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Institute for Microbiology and Infection Medicine Tübingen

Application deadline: 16.10.2019

At the Interfaculty Institute for Microbiology and Infection Medicine Tübingen (IMIT) of the University of Tübingen is a

Professorship (W3) for Bacterial Metabolomics (w / m / d)

to occupy 1 January 2020. It will be assigned to the Department of Biology.

The professorship is embedded in the Cluster of Excellence EXC 2124 "Control of Microorganisms to Control Infections," which explores functional interactions in complex microbial communities, the microbiome, from basic to clinical applications. The post holder is expected to be internationally recognized in cluster research topics and in the acquisition of large non-university research funds.

The research focus should be on primary or secondary metabolism in microbial or microbial-host interactions using targeted and untargeted metabolomics techniques. Research strategies in the fields of systems biology, synthetic biology and / or mass spectrometry-based visualization are desired.

It is expected that the post holder will be actively involved in the Cluster of Excellence EXC 2124, other research networks of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft and the German Center for Infection Research as well as at the central facilities of the University, Center for Quantitative Biology (QBiC) and Natural Product Research Center ( NatResource). Further information on the EXC 2124 can be found at: https://uni-tuebingen.de/forschung/forschungsschwerpunkte/exzellenzcluster-cmfi/

The applicant is required to participate in teaching the Bachelor of Science program "Biology" and the Master of Science programs "Microbiology", "Bioinformatics", "Biochemistry" and / or "Molecular Medicine". During the funding period of the EXC 2124, the professorship has a significantly reduced teaching obligation.

Setting requirement is the habilitation or an equivalent qualification.

The University of Tübingen aims to increase the proportion of women in research and teaching and therefore urges suitably qualified women scientists to apply. Qualified international scientists are explicitly invited to apply.

Handicapped persons are given preferential treatment if they are of the same suitability.

Applications with the usual documents (cover letter, CV, list of publications, list of lectures, diplomas / certificates) and a meaningful presentation of the research planning with possible cooperation, a teaching concept and the completed application form ( https://uni-tuebingen.de/fakultaeten/ faculty of science / faculty / faculty / service-and-downloads / # c608605 ) will be solicited in electronic form (as a full PDF, max 10 MB) by October 16, 2019 to the dean of the Faculty of Science-Mathematics Tübingen, Prof. dr. Wolfgang Rosenstiel ( career @ mnf.uni-tuebingen.de ). Research-specific queries on the site can also be sent to Dr. Ing. Dirk Kraus (dirk.kraus @ uni-tuebingen.de ).
