Research Assistant / Research Associate in Biophysics Imperial College London, Department of Medicine United Kingdom

Job summary

We wish to recruit a Research Associate to work in the research group of Professor David Rueda (http://www.imperial.ac.uk/people/d.rueda), in the Section of Molecular Virology, Department of Medicine, at Imperial College London’s Hammersmith Campus. The successful candidate will join a multi-disciplinary team of international researchers investigating the structures and mechanisms of chromatin modifying complexes in human DNA damage repair and cancer.

 

Duties and responsibilities

This role will involve combining single molecule approaches with biochemistry to understand molecular mechanisms for DNA repair that prevents cancer in humans.


Essential requirements

You must hold a PhD, or be in the final stages of submission, or equivalent, in biophysics, biochemistry or enzymology and have a demonstrated track record in conducting high quality original research. Knowledge of single molecule biophysics (fluorescence and/or force microscopy) and/or biochemistry is essential and experience in expression/purification of multi-protein complexes in insect or human cells is desirable.

This role is full-time and fixed-term for up to four years.

Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as a Research Assistant within the salary range £34,397 - £37,486 per annum.
