A full time postdoctoral position is available to be part of an MRC funded project to define the role of macrophages in adhesion formation. There is an urgent need for new therapies to prevent or reduce peritoneal adhesion development to avoid the morbidity and economic burdens associated with this common fibrotic condition. This project will use our established in vivo models of surgical adhesions. The outcomes will provide new and long overdue functional insights into the development of adhesions and lay the groundwork for novel biological therapies to prevent adhesion formation.

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who will enjoy working under the supervisory team of Dr Sarah Herrick (main), Dr Dominik Ruckerl, Prof Judi Allen and Prof Adrian S Woolf. The successful applicant will have a PhD in the area of immunology and/or tissue repair and a track record of success. You will have demonstrable previous research experience of in vivo experimental models, a sound background in flow cytometry/biochemical/molecular biology techniques and a good understanding of cell differentiation and extracellular matrix turnover. You must possess excellent organizational skills and be capable of individual initiative and of interacting as part of a team.
