A highly motivated early career researcher is sought to join the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry & Health Sciences in the University of Melbourne. The successful applicant will report to the laboratory head, Dr Laura Edgington-Mitchell. The Protease Pathophysiology Lab seeks to understand the contribution of proteases and protease-activated receptors (G protein-coupled receptors) to carcinogenesis, metastasis, and cancer pain using complimentary strategies involving animal models, chemical biology, and cell biology. More information on the lab can be found at http://www.bio21.unimelb.edu.au/edgington-mitchell-group

The successful applicant will drive the in vivo projects taking place in the lab, thus extensive experience with small animal handling and animal models of disease (preferably cancer) is essential. Experience with animal behaviour experiments and mouse genetics/colony management would also be advantageous. Experience with mammalian cell culture, molecular biology and protein biochemistry is essential. Knowledge of cancer biology or immunology would also be an asset.
