Research Scientist in Molecular Physiology and Biophysics
University of Virginia, Department of Molecular Physiology and Biological Physics
United States

·A Research Scientist position in the smooth muscle Somlyo laboratory in the Department of Molecular Physiology and Biological Physics at the University of Virginia is immediately available. The NIH research focuses on the discovery of the contribution and the mechanism of action of our recently identified p90 ribosomal S6 kinase to the maintenance of basal tone, contractility and hypertension when activated by agonists and increased vascular intraluminal pressure. Outcomes will lay the groundwork for the future development of pharmaceuticals to treat smooth muscle based diseases and will also increase our basic understanding of smooth muscle contractility.
