Purpose of the post

Sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P), a potent signaling lipid secreted by hematopoietic cells plays numerous biologically significant roles including its requirement for immune, stem cell trafficking, and blood vessel health. Our laboratory discovered Mfsd2b as the S1P transporter for its extracellular signaling roles (Vu et al., Nature 2017). The current projects focus on the understanding of the physiological significance of this S1P transporter using mouse models.

Main duties and responsibilities

The postdoc candidate will lead a newly funded NMRC research project in which he or she will work with the PI to study the physiological impacts of Mfsd2b and its ligand S1P to cells/animals physiology.

The postdoc candidate will be able to:

Independently lead a research project using mouse models.

Design and Perform experiments, interpret the data, and write papers.

Experience and knowledge of the cardiovascular system and vascular biology research is essential.

The candidate should have experience, preferentially with experience in using mouse model for vascular research.

Experience with histological assessments by H&E and immune-fluorescent staining of mouse tissues.
