Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to develop statistical models and analyses that combine theoretical ecology predictions and empirical data to study the evolution of sex-specific differences in immunity and life history traits.

The postdoc will work within the interdisciplinary Sex Differences in Immunity consortium, led by Dr. Piret Avila, bridging evolutionary biology, immunology, genomics, demography, and statistics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and fit statistical models on natural selection shaping sex-specific immune strategies.

  • Integrate multiple empirical datasets of various types and sources.

  • Develop novel statistical approaches for hypothesis testing, model comparison, and data integration.

  • Collaborate with researchers across evolutionary biology, immunology, genomics, and demography.

  • Disseminate results through publications and presentations.


Candidate Profile

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD in statistics, mathematics, biology, evolutionary anthropology, or related field

  • Strong background in statistical and mathematical modelling and analysis of real-world datasets

  • Experience with interdisciplinary collaboration

  • Ability to develop and pursue independent research questions

  • Fluent English skills

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working with evolutionary theory and empirical datasets

  • Knowledge of immunity, life history evolution, or related biological fields
