The working group "Human Biology and Primate Evolution" deals with questions about the molecular evolution of humans using modern experimental and bioinformatic methods. The focus is on differences in gene regulation, evolution of transcription factors and non-coding RNAs, and their potential impact on the evolution of the human brain, its development, and functions.

Research in the field of human evolution; Participation in the teaching of the work area; Participation in third-party funded projects; Participation in the organization within the work area (also S2); the activity serves the own scientific qualification

University degree (diploma or master) and doctorate in biology, bioinfomracy or another relevant field

Strong interest in the molecular evolution of man; Experience in cell and molecular biology techniques and / or experience in bioinformatics methods for the analysis of genome and transcriptome data; Experience in several of the following techniques: Cultivation and experimentation with induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS cells), differentiation of iPS cells in neuronal cells, CRISPR / Cas9, functional analysis of transcription factors and non-coding RNAs, CHIP-Seq, CHIPP -Seq, RNA-Seq, gene regulatory networks, bioinformatic evaluation of -omics data, R, python, network analysis; international peer-reviewed publications; Team competence, fluent in English and good German.
