£30395 to £39609 per annum pro-rata depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

The School of Biosciences delivers a large undergraduate programme in Environmental Science with students taught across the University Park and Sutton Bonington Campuses. The courses taught comprise a 3 year BSc and a 4 year MSci. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of this portfolio of taught programmes.


The role will involve teaching mainly in the quantitative aspects of environmental science (environmental modelling, statistics) but also includes elements on the history and philosophy of science and the role of environmental science in society. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to residential field courses.


Candidates must have a PhD in Environmental Science or a discipline relevant to the quantitative aspects of environmental science. Candidates should have teaching experience in environmental science at the undergraduate or postgraduate level and the ability to work in a highly multidisciplinary and applied field. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, a flexible approach to work and the ability to work in a team.


A postgraduate teaching qualification and experience of administration in higher education are desirable. Knowledge of the wider role of environmental science in underpinning policy or decision making would be an advantage.


This part-time (18 hours per week) fixed-term post is offered for a period of 2 years.
