Part-time Postdoctoral Research Associate - Understanding the Role of Chromatin in Long Term Transcriptional Memory

Grade 7: £32,236 - £39,609 p.a. (pro rata).

We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join Dr Lars Jansen’s group to carry out research focused on understanding the role of chromatin in long-term transcriptional memory. Specifically, the postholder will participate in a project to study chromatin inheritance and assembly along the cell division cycle in human cells and determine the putative role of chromatin structure in the potentiation of transcription activation during interferon-mediated gene activation. In addition to running the project, the postholder will provide guidance to less experienced members of the research group, including postdocs, research assistants, technicians, and PhD and project students.


Applicants should hold a PhD/DPhil, or be near completion of a PhD/DPhil in a relevant area and should have relevant experience in the area of mammalian chromatin biology. You will possess sufficient knowledge to work within established research programmes of the lab that involve cell and molecular biology of chromatin, genomics and genome engineering. The ability to manage your own academic research, together with the ability to contribute ideas for new research projects and research income generation is essential. You will also have previous experience of publishing original research and have excellent communication skills.


This part-time fixed-term post is funded by the Wellcome Trust for up to 15 months in the first instance and is based at the Department of Biochemistry, South Parks Road, Oxford.


The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available.
