Position Overview

The Department of Biological Sciences at UTSC invites applications for a three-year, full-time CLTA in Biotechnology and Translational Biology. The successful candidate will:

  • Design and teach biotechnology curricula emphasizing computational tools, translational applications, and biomedical innovation.

  • Integrate technology, production, bioethics, and regulatory frameworks into teaching.

  • Contribute to departmental teaching strengths and collaborate with the Scarborough Academy of Medicine and Integrated Health (SAMIH).


Key Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in biotechnology and translational biology

  • Develop and deliver lectures, online content, and laboratory instruction

  • Mentor and supervise students in academic and research activities

  • Contribute to teaching-related scholarly activity and pedagogical research

  • Foster an inclusive and diverse learning environment


Qualifications

  • PhD in Biology, Biotechnology, or related fields (by the time of appointment)

  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching in degree-granting programs

  • Experience with curriculum development, lecture preparation, online teaching materials, and pedagogy

  • Strong record of pedagogical inquiry, teaching awards, and scholarly activity

  • Commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in teaching and mentorship

Preferred: Post-doctoral experience in academia or industry
