The Baker Institute for Animal Health in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University invites applications from outstanding scientists for a tenure-track faculty position in quantitative biology and data science at the rank of Assistant Professor. This position is part of a strategic initiative to expand the College’s capabilities in computational biology and data science. The Baker Institute is a multidisciplinary center of excellence in animal health with a record of impactful basic and translational multidisciplinary research spanning multiple diseases of the host, studies of pathogens as well as host-pathogen interactions. Faculty at the Institute maintain strong collaborative partnerships across the College of Veterinary Medicine, Weill Cornell Medical College, and departments such as Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, the Meinig School of Biomedical Engineering, and Computational Biology. Many of our researchers approach animal health through the lens of One Health, generating insights with shared relevance to both animal and human medicine. Now in its 75th year, the Institute has a distinguished history of addressing animal diseases through close engagement with veterinarians and clinicians across the country. This legacy offers rich opportunities for collaboration across the full translational spectrum, from computational data science to clinical diagnostics and treatment. The successful candidate will be expected to establish a vigorous, externally funded research program in one or more broad areas such as comparative or systems biology, animal and human health, or technology development. The ideal applicant will complement existing strengths at the Baker Institute and across the College in genomics, epigenomics, and transcriptomics, while expanding capabilities in areas such as metabolomics, proteomics, and/or the integration of complex, multimodal datasets. We particularly encourage applications from scientists developing novel statistical, machine learning, or artificial intelligence methods, as well as those applying such approaches to biological data. Qualifications: The salary, rank, and title will be commensurate based on academic credentials and experience, with a posted range of $120,000 – $135,000. Application Instructions:
