Position Overview

The School of Natural Sciences and the Discipline of Botany are seeking an Assistant Professor in Plant Biodiversity and Conservation. The successful candidate will:

  • Develop research and teaching programs in plant biodiversity and conservation at national, regional, or global levels

  • Possess strong field skills; expertise in collection-based science is a plus

  • Conduct research that informs biodiversity policy and/or practical conservation actions

  • Use or augment Trinity’s botanical collections (Botanic Garden and Herbarium) in research, teaching, and outreach

  • Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across MSc and BSc programs including:

    • MSc Biodiversity and Conservation

    • MSc Environmental Sciences

    • MSc Smart and Sustainable Cities

    • BSc Moderatorships in Botany, Environmental Science, and Environmental Science & Engineering

Opportunity: The position offers potential for future curatorial or directorship roles at the Trinity College Botanic Garden.


Candidate Requirements

  • Established research and teaching record in plant biodiversity and conservation

  • Strong publication record appropriate to career stage

  • Ability to contribute to policy-relevant research and practical conservation initiatives

  • Experience in engaging with botanical collections is desirable
