Position Description
The Department of Systems Biology at Harvard Medical School invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Systems Biology, commensurate with experience. We seek researchers who use synthetic biology to define and solve essential problems in sustainability, health, and basic research.

In addition to being a member of the Department of Systems Biology, the successful candidate will also become a member of the newly founded SynBio HIVE at HMS, which offers a special collaborative environment in which to perform innovative and impactful research. The broader Department faculty have diverse interests in cell biology, biochemistry, physics, mathematics, chemistry, computer science, engineering and medicine. The department offers a supportive environment that encourages collaboration, entrepreneurship, and interdisciplinary scholarship.

The successful candidate will also become a member of Harvard University’s Ph.D. Program in Systems, Synthetic and Quantitative Biology, a cross-campus interdisciplinary program that attracts extraordinary graduate students. We value the next generation of scientists and appreciate that many have been personally impacted by climate change, global pandemics, and inequity.

Candidates must have a PhD, MD, or an equivalent graduate degree. Non-traditional applicants, such as those from industry, are particularly encouraged to apply.

The deadline for applications is October 31, 2023. Preliminary interviews will be conducted via Zoom in late November and early December. In-person interviews will occur during late January or early February 2024.

Basic Qualifications
A Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D. or M.D. is required.

      3. A description of your scientific accomplishments and explanation of how they relate to your future research and non-research goals

     

  • Statement on teaching and mentoring (one page maximum).
