Position Overview

The Department of Cell & Systems Biology at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure-stream Associate Professor in Animal Morphogenesis. We seek candidates with a record of excellence in applying cell biological approaches to address fundamental questions in animal tissue morphogenesis, enhancing departmental strengths in genomics, developmental biology, molecular biology, bioinformatics, and cell biology.

Successful candidates will employ cutting-edge approaches such as imaging, mechanobiology, and/or systems biology to study tissue morphogenesis during animal development.


Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Biology or a related field (Molecular & Cellular Biology, Systems Biology, Synthetic Biology, Developmental Biology, Genome Biology, Genetics, etc.)

  • Established international reputation in research and teaching

  • Evidence of innovative, independent, and externally funded research

  • Strong mentorship and teaching record with undergraduate and graduate students

  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in research, teaching, and service

Evidence of research excellence may include:

  • Sustained publications in top-tier journals

  • Research awards and accolades

  • Peer-reviewed funding

  • Presentations at conferences

  • Mentorship of trainees

  • Letters of recommendation from high-standing referees

Evidence of teaching excellence may include:

  • Teaching statement highlighting experience and accomplishments

  • Sample course materials and teaching evaluations

  • Mentorship of students and trainees
