Summary Description

An Associate Research Scientist position is available in the Department of Systems Biology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center to lead a recently funded effort to study tissue resident immune populations in humans as part of the Human Cell Atlas. Candidates must be highly motivated Ph.D.-level scientists with a background in immunology and a strong interest in genomic technology. The ideal candidate will have significant expertise in flow cytometry, next-generation sequencing, and familiarity with single-cell technologies.

 

The position offers training opportunities in human immunology, single-cell genomics, and bioinformatics from leading experts; state-of-the-art equipment in well-resourced core facilities; an extraordinary human tissue resource spanning all ages of life; and a major role in long-term, international collaborations.

Minimum Degree Required

Ph.D.

 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

A Ph.D. in a scientific or engineering discipline is required along with a record of scientific publications.

Preferred Qualifications

 

-Experience with mammalian cell culture, preferably with culturing immune cells.
-Experience with flow cytometry, fluorescence activated cell sorting (FACS), and immunofluorescence. 
-Experience with library construction and quality control for next-generation sequencing (experience with trancriptomics and single-cell RNA-seq would be ideal).
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Strong project management skills.
