doctoral candidate (m / f / d) specializing in biomedical research is earliest possible
with 60% of the collectively agreed working time ( currently 23.10 hours / week). The position is limited to 3 years depending on the project. The remuneration is in EC 13 TV-L.
The possibility of a doctorate is given, combined with the integration into the Biomedical Graduate School (BMGS) Aachen.

 

your profile
We are looking for an ambitious, highly qualified and motivated student with a keen interest in biomedical research as well as the willingness to carry out and develop a project in a goal-oriented manner. The prerequisite is a master's degree in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry or life sciences as well as existing knowledge and experience in the above-mentioned techniques. Furthermore, we expect both the ability to work independently and an open-mindedness for working in smaller project groups. Good IT skills and the ability to speak in an English-speaking environment are required.

We provide an international scientific environment and access to modern research techniques and facilities. Weekly seminars, lectures and project discussions as well as the opportunity to participate in national and / or international conferences are part of our doctoral program.

 

Your tasks
One of the main goals of our institute is to understand the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying allergen-induced mast cell activation via the high-affinity receptor for IgE (FceRI). The FceRI-mediated activation of mast cells results in numerous pro-inflammatory responses, such as degranulation and the production of lipid mediators and cytokines. For its activation, the IgE-bound FceRI must be cross-linked by oligovalent antigens. The level of FceRI aggregation influences the activation of positive and / or negative regulatory signal events, which ultimately determine the extent of mast cell activation. In this project, we primarily want to learn to understand suppressive-effective membrane-associated signal processes in more detail. Through our research, we strive for the molecular definition of new targets for pharmacological intervention. The PhD project involves the use of a wide range of experimental techniques such as Western blotting, protein expression and purification, mass spectrometry, RT-qPCR, cloning, degranulation and secretion measurement, FACS analysis, proximity ligation assays (PLA), confocal fluorescence microscopy, and In vitro differentiation of different mast cell types using different knock-out mouse models.
