About This Opportunity

The University of Queensland (UQ) invites applications for the position of Professor and Head of School, School of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences (HMNS).

This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving the School’s strategic direction, fostering academic excellence, and cultivating impactful partnerships across sectors.

About You

You hold a PhD in a relevant human movement or nutrition sciences disciplines, along with an internationally recognised track record of research excellence and a strong teaching portfolio.

This includes:

  • A substantial publication record in high-quality journals.

  • A proven ability to secure competitive research funding.

  • Effective Higher Degree by Research (HDR) supervision.

You are a values-driven leader with the strategic capability, emotional intelligence, and capacity to unite and inspire diverse teams.

You will demonstrate:

  • The ability to foster a collaborative and inclusive culture.

  • Leadership with cultural awareness and understanding.

  • A strong understanding of the historical, social, and political contexts impacting First Nations peoples.

  • Strong external engagement and relationship-building skills.

  • Productive partnerships across industry, government, and professional bodies.

  • The ability to position the School for long-term success and impact.
