Job DescriptionThe Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAEU is seeking to appoint a full-time Instructor to contribute to its research, teaching, and administrative activities. Ideal candidate provides high level of research support for various research projects, manages the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology laboratory practicals, and assists in its teaching mission. The successful candidate will contribute to conducting practicals in undergraduate and post-graduate programs, including the MS and PhD programs. Furthermore, the candidate is expected to conduct advanced research, both applied and methodological, in biomedical sciences. It is expected that he/she will publish their research findings in reputable journals. There are good opportunities for collaboration with colleagues at the College of Medicine & Health Sciences and other UAEU colleges in addition to local and regional institutions. International collaboration, especially with prestigious academic institutions, is encouraged. The successful candidate will also share administrative work in the department and the College of Medicine, including serving on committees, invigilating examinations, and contributing to student assessments.
Minimum QualificationPhD degree in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology/Biomedical Science/ or related field.
Preferred QualificationCandidates with some postdoctoral experiences are preferred.
Excpected Skills At least 2-3 years of experience in an academic or research institution, with a demonstrated publication record in high-impact journalsThe candidate should demonstrate experience in: Purification of recombinant proteins using fast protein liquid chromatography (FPLC) systems with multiple chromatographic techniques, including affinity, ion-exchange, and size-exclusion chromatography. Optimized purification workflows to improve protein yield, purity, and stability for downstream biochemical & structural studies. Size-exclusion chromatography (SEC) for protein polishing, aggregation analysis, and molecular weight estimation. Performing and troubleshooting biochemical and molecular biology techniques, including but not limited to PCR, RNA extraction, gel electrophoresis, immunocytochemistry, western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and ELISA Preparation and purification of viral vectors for gene delivery. Documentation of experimental procedures, purification results, and batch records in laboratory notebooks and electronic records.The candidate should have: Qualitative and quantitative research knowledge and experience Statistical knowledge and experience Good interpersonal and communication skills Strong organizational and administration skills Ability to independently design and execute experiments, interpret data, and identify appropriate follow-up strategies. Time management and self-management skills Be comfortable working with small animals
