Hosting offer for prospective independent junior group leaders in fields related to toxicology (Junior Professor Level) The University of Konstanz is one of eleven Universities of Excellence in Germany. Since 2007 it has been successful in the German Excellence Initiative and its follow-up programme, the Excellence Strategy. The Department of Biology is among the most research-active and successful departments within German universities with a vibrant research community in the area of Toxicology, comprising four Chairs, i.e., Molecular Toxicology, Ecotoxicology, In vitro Toxicology, and Systems Toxicology. The Department offers state-of-the-art core facilities for proteomics, bio-imaging, flow cytometry, electron microscopy, high-throughput screening, and an animal research unit (www.biologie.uni.kn/en/research/facilities). We seek to attract outstanding candidates in a field related to toxicology to support their applications within the year 2022 to highly prestigious grants for first-time, independent group leaders, such as the DFG Emmy Noether Programme. The Emmy Noether Programme enables exceptionally qualified early-career fellows to lead an independent junior research group for a time period of six years (funding up to € 2M), and thereby offers the chance to qualify for the position of full professor at a university. The University of Konstanz would provide laboratory space, an institutional status equivalent to a junior professorship, the integration in successful research consortia and an opportunity to join the renowned Institute for Advanced Study for Junior Researchers (https://www.uni-konstanz.de/zukunftskolleg/about-zukunftskolleg/ Eligibility criteria include: - A strong scientific track record in an area linked to the broad field of toxicology, such as mechanisms of carcinogenicity, mitochondrial pathology, epigenetic basis of the toxic response, research in biology-derived toxins, novel methods to investigate gene x environment interactions, or approaches to next-generation risk assessment For more information on the DFG Emmy Noether Programme please visit: www.dfg.de/en/research_funding/programmes/individual/emmy_noether/index.html. For more information on the Department of Biology at the University of Konstanz, and for advice on application strategy/procedure please contact brigitte.schanze@uni-konstanz.de.
