One Junior Specialist position is available in Dr. Kevin Beier’s laboratory at the Department of Physiology and Biophysics, University of California Irvine. Our laboratory employs a multidisciplinary approach that combines modern in vivo neuroscience methods (optogenetics, chemogenetics, calcium imaging) with slice electrophysiology and molecular engineering. The laboratory is new, so there may be opportunities to lead a scientific project, in addition to assisting with other laboratory experiments in one of the above areas. Successful candidates will have a strong background in one or more of the following research areas: neuroscience, computational biology, behavior, molecular biology, molecular engineering, or virology, and work well independently or as part of a team. Experience in coding or computational biology would be desirable, but not required. Candidates interested and capable of working both independently as well as in a team environment are encouraged to apply.
