Duties: the successful applicant will: (i) teach Biomedical sciences; (ii) supervise research projects; (iii) initiate, promote and participate in research; (iv) provide academic leadership through programme development and research; (v) act as a mentor to junior academic staff; (vi) participate in all academic and professional activities of the University of Botswana, the Faculty and the Department; (vii) engage with the university, profession and community; (iv) carry out any other duties and responsibilities as and when assigned by the Head of the Department.

Requirements: the successful applicant should have: (i) a PhD in Biomedical Sciences or a relevant field from a recognised university or institution; (ii) an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences or relevant field from a recognised institution. N.B. applicants with a Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences/MMed or relevant field, and a Bachelor’s degree of at least 2.1 or equivalent may be considered under special circumstances; (iii) show evidence of engagement in research.

Added advantages: (i) experience of teaching at a university or comparable institution; (ii) evidence of governance and social engagement.

N.B. Applicants with a strong neuroscience background will have an added advantage.

The curriculum vitae (CV) should contain a detailed list of the publications; clearly specifying titles of publications, ISBN numbers (for books, book chapters and conference proceedings), dates of publications, name(s) of publishers and name(s) of co-authors if any and number of pages.  Publications should be categorised into: books, book chapters, monographs, refereed and non-refereed journals, etc.
