Open position in Jobitti-project

for the period 19.8.2019-31.12.2020


We are looking for a person with a background in biosciences for the position of University teacher in the Jobitti-project. The work relates to the development of web-based teaching courses. More specifically, the work primarily consists of the generation of electronic course material and designing  on-line assignments and exercises in the Moodle e-learning platform for two courses focusing on i) in vitrodiagnostics and ii) antibody engineering & biotherapeutics. The person to be hired will work in close collaboration with other teaching personnel having long experience in the topics of the courses. The primary work place is the Biotechnology unit of the Department of Biochemistry (Medisiina D building)


What is Jobitti?

The Jobitti-project aims to improve education in the field of biosciences and reduce the barriers on employment for the students by improving the access to educational resources among various universities and by consolidating collaboration between universities and bioscience industry. One of the main specific objectives of Jobitti is to establish new Web-based courses on various topics related to know-how and skills needed in biosciences. The partners of this 3-year project, funded by the Ministry of Education, include University of Turku, Åbo Academi, University of Eastern Finland and Turku Polytechnics. In University of Turku, project parties include Institute of Biomedicine (coordinator of the project) and Department of Biochemistry.



Suitable applicant should hold PhD or MSc degree in the field of biosciences. Excellent command of English and good communications skills are essential. Previous studies or know-how related to in vitrodiagnostics and the development and/or applications of antibody based biotherapeutics are considered a major asset. Experience in the development of multimedia contents for internet distribution and in the use of graphics software tools and/or Moodle platform for teaching are also considered as benefits. The position includes a probationary period of 6 months.



The salary for a University teacher is based on the University salary system for teaching and research personnel. For a University teacher, the salary is at level 4-5 on the job demands chart, where the task specific salary component is 2.535,20 – 2.935,55  euro per month. In addition, a personal work performance component will be paid. The personal performance component is a 6% – 50% of the task-specific base salary.
