Position description

Temporary positions are anticipated for lecturers in Human Development and Family Studies. Courses located in Davis, California AND virtual, depending on course.

A list of courses that may be available during the 2023-2024 academic year are listed below. It is possible that courses may be added or omitted from this list as the year progresses.

A reasonable estimate for this position is $62,455.00 - $175,742.

Date:

Several appointments are made each year. The number of courses assigned for each appointment may vary depending on type of course and percentage of appointment.

Service dates are:

Fall Quarter: September 25 - December 17, 2023
Winter Quarter: January 5 - March 22, 2024
Spring Quarter: March 28 - June 13, 2024

Duties and Responsibilities:

Teach one or more lecture, lab, and/or practicum courses in the Human Development and Family Studies Unit of the Department of Human Ecology.

General Information:

The Human Development and Family Studies of the Department of Human Ecology at the University of California, Davis, offers undergraduate majors leading to the Bachelor of Science degrees in Health and Wellbeing, Children and Families, or the General track, and Masters Degrees in Child Development or Human Development.

The Davis campus, third oldest in the ten-campus University of California system, offers a full range of undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs. The city of Davis is a progressive university town of about 65,622, located in the Sacramento Valley 72 miles northeast of San Francisco and 15 miles west of Sacramento, California's capital.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

• Appropriate professional degree [minimum requirement is a Masters (MA/MS) in Human Ecology, Human Development, Child Development, or equivalent discipline];
• Evidence of teaching excellence or potential for excellence; and
• A developing record of scholarly or professional achievement in an area of expertise related to a subject area described in this announcement.

Preferred qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Human Ecology, Community Regional Development, or equivalent discipline
