Permanent Whole Time Post University College Cork (UCC) wishes to appoint a Lecturer in Medical Microbiology. Reporting to the Head of Department of Pathology, UCC, and working closely with the Professor of Medical Microbiology, the appointee will deliver pathology teaching and learning—particularly, but not exclusively, the medical microbiology component—for the Department of Pathology. This role also includes assessment, course content supervision, and other academic-related activities integral to pathology/medical microbiology. Role Responsibilities
Department OverviewThe Department of Pathology is a member of the School of Medicine within the College of Medicine and Health at UCC. It teaches in the Schools of Medicine and Dentistry, and the College of Science, Engineering and Food Science. It also contributes to the jointly delivered Biomedical Science degree programme with Munster Technological University. Research strengths include Cancer, Molecular Pathology, Medical Microbiology, Medical Genetics, and Immunology. Candidates with potential to develop high-impact, internationally recognised research aligned with departmental interests and/or associated centres (e.g. APC Microbiome Institute or Cancer Research @UCC) are encouraged to apply. Competitiveness for national and international research funding (e.g., Research Ireland, Health Research Board, ERC) should be demonstrated.
