Summary of Duties
This one-year postdoctoral position is envisioned as an individual who will work at the intersection of 3 departments – Veterinary Clinical Sciences, Veterinary Preventive Medicine, and Veterinary Biosciences with an overall goal of establishing a research platform to advance the study and translation of microbial community sciences into the clinic. The platform the Companion Animal Fecal Bank will be the first of its kind and will provide a systematic way to study microbe-host interactions, microbial community development, longitudinal change in microbial communities, the long-term effects of microbiota transplants including microbial engraftment, evolution, interactions, stability, and host health. This position will also provide critical personnel support for early career investigators who intend to build their research programs both clinical and basic science around the opportunities that this fecal microbiota transplant biobank will afford.

The successful candidate’s primary responsibility will be to establish laboratory infrastructure and protocols for fecal microbiota transplant biobanking both for clinical treatments under the supervision of veterinarian or other internal medicine clinicians, and for transplant / microbial community related research. Additionally, the successful candidate will help support the research efforts related to anaerobic culture, fecal transplant preparation and analysis; arrange logistics (financial, space, and scientific) of anaerobic chambers; and assist with special projects.

Required Qualifications
D.V.M. or Ph.D. with significant animal experience.

Desired Qualifications
Any veterinary experience, or microbiology or microbiome experience, or previous anaerobic work desired.

Target Salary $49,000.00 - $50,000.00 Annually
