Postdoc for The Microbiome Sequencing Facility

The research group of Prof. M. Gerhard at the Institute for Medical Microbiology, Immunology and Hygiene (MIH) of the Technical University of Munich is dedicated to the research of host-pathogen interaction. Within the research activities of the DZIF TTU "Gastrointestinal Infections" the role of the microbiome in acute and chronic gastrointestinal infections in mouse and human studies is investigated. For this project, we are looking for a postgraduate researcher (PostDoc) who will direct our in-house microbiome sequencing unit (MiSeq-based), supporting both collaborative projects and pursuing own research projects.

Your profile 
• University degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biotechnology or equivalent PhDs 
• Experience in microbiome sequencing 
• Experience in bioinformatics pipelines to analyze sequence data 
• Expertise in microbiology and immunology 
• Accurate, accurate and reliable laboratory work 
• Enthusiasm for basic 
science and applied projects • Excellent team spirit and communication skills 

Your tasks 
• Head of microbiome 
sequencing unit at MIH • Performing 16S RNA and metagenome sequencing of bacterial communities and genomes 
• Support of collaborative DZIF studies and projects with microbiome analyzes 
• Development, planning and implementation of own research projects in the field of microbiome research 
• Bioinformatic analysis of sequence data 
• Third party funding for scientific projects 
• Very good spoken and written English
