Be You

The Department of Cell Biology is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar to join a project in the lab of Nicole Scott-Hewitt.


Minimum Requirements

  • PhD in Neurobiology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in experimental design and quantitative data analysis

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Attention to detail, ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills

  • Strong understanding of laboratory safety and best practices

  • Familiarity with standard laboratory equipment and software


Position Details

  • This position is onsite. Work is performed on-site or at a designated assignment location.

  • Minimum one-year appointment, contingent upon satisfactory annual reviews

  • Salary is commensurate with NIH guidelines and applicant experience

  • Position located at Duke University School of Medicine, Durham, NC


Principal Responsibilities

  • Design and perform experiments and collect/analyze data related to research project in the Scott-Hewitt Laboratory

  • Keep proper records of experiments and results per Scott-Hewitt Lab and Duke University SOPs

  • Present data in lab meetings and departmental seminars

  • Demonstrate commitment to training and career advancement

  • Show intellectual leadership and significant contribution to own and other scientific projects in the lab

  • Contribute to the training and advancement of graduate students and other lab personnel

  • Write fellowship applications as appropriate for career development
