About the Position

The Institute of Odontology provides education for dentists, dental hygienists, and dental technicians at undergraduate and graduate levels, conducts research, and offers postgraduate education in odontological science. The department collaborates closely with the Västra Götaland Public Dental Service in clinical education and research.

The Department of Oral Microbiology & Immunology studies microorganisms in the oral cavity, their interactions with the immune system, and immune function in health and oral disease.

Research Focus:
The postdoctoral researcher will investigate how neutrophils and their neutrophil serine proteases (NSPs) counteract destructive inflammation in periodontal disease. Individual differences in NSP activity may explain why certain people develop periodontitis while others maintain only reversible gingivitis.

  • Plan, execute, and troubleshoot experiments, analyze and interpret results.

  • Present data orally and in writing, contribute to manuscript preparation, and participate in national and international collaborations and meetings.

  • Mentor and supervise project, Master’s, and PhD students within the department.

  • PhD in a relevant subject is required.
