Postdoctoral Research Associate in Proteomics

Grade 7: £32,236 - £39,609 p.a.

 

We are seeking to appoint a science driven but service orientated Postdoctoral Research Associate to devise and create proteomic methodologies to address specific biological questions. This will involve sample preparation, liquid chromatography (LC) and mass spectrometry (MS). This role will also require analysis of quantitative proteomic data and supervision of the mass spectrometers.

 

Applicants should hold a PhD/DPhil, or be near completion of a PhD/DPhil within the fields of chemistry or biochemistry with the possibility to under fill if you instead hold a Bachelor’s degree (or Master’s degree) in chemistry or a related analytical area. You will have extensive experience with proteomics centric LC-MS equipment and proteomic sample preparation. Proficiency in handling large data-sets including bioinformatics and biostatistics is essential as is the ability to work independently and supportively in a laboratory environment. You will also have the ability to communicate results clearly and effectively and keep accurate laboratory records.

 

This full-time fixed-term post is funded by the Proteomics Service for up to 3 years in the first instance and is based at the Department of Biochemistry, South Parks Road, Oxford

 

This position is a Grade 7 position however, we would be willing to consider candidates with potential but less experience who are seeking a development opportunity, for which an initial appointment would be at Grade 6 (£28,660 - £34,189 p.a.) with the responsibilities adjusted accordingly. This would be discussed with applicants at interview/appointment where appropriate. The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available.
