Postdoctoral Scholar in Air Pollution Epidemiology

The Department of Population Health & Disease Prevention, Program in Public Health at the University of California-Irvine seeks a Postdoctoral Scholar to study air pollution epidemiology. The selected applicant will work on a National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS)-funded study that examines the impact of air pollution, built environment, and meteorology on pregnancy complications including gestational diabetes, pre/eclampsia, and gestational hypertension. The research will use data from electronic health records of a large hospital network with rich clinical and residential address history information. The postdoc researcher will support epidemiological data analysis on various exposures and outcomes and for moderation and mediation analysis.

The candidates must hold a Ph.D. in one of the following areas: epidemiology, public health, environmental health sciences or equivalent. The candidate must have strong understanding of biostatistics and epidemiological methods, excellent data analysis/programing skills in SAS and/or R, excellent communication skills (oral and written) in English, and ability to work independently with proper supervision. They must also have demonstrated publication record in environmental health sciences and have the ability to take initiative, creativity, attention to details and commitment to producing high quality work.
