The Wunderlich Lab at the University of California, Irvine has an opening for an NSF-funded postdoctoral position ( The lab studies the mechanisms of how regulatory DNA, like promoters and enhancers, control gene expression, both in development and in the innate immune response. This position would support a project that uses a combination of functional genomics, natural sequence variation, and computational modeling to uncover the operating principles of immune-responsive enhancers, using the Drosophila model. A successful candidate will have a strong interest in enhancer biology and have either experimental or computational experience, or ideally, both. Experience with cell-based high-throughput reporter assays is an attractive, though not required, attribute.

Opportunities to develop oral and written communication skills, attend scientific seminars, and develop management and mentoring skills will be available.
