In a national and international comparison, the German Sport University (DSHS) in Cologne with over 6000
students from 93 countries constitutes an outstanding university location. The DSHS stands for proven research
with high third-party funding and current as well as international teaching in all social and life science subdisciplines of sport science.

The position of a

“W2- Professor for Exercise Physiology” (male/female/diverse)
at the Institute for Training and Computer Science in Sport at the German Sport University is to be filled as soon as possible.

A scientist with proven international experience and with particular expertise in applied exercise physiology and
training control, both with significant emphasis on high-performance sport is being sought. The candidate should
have proof of having worked with national and international (world-class) association structures in different types of sport. A completed university degree in sport science or related disciplines is a prerequisite. Appropriate
international publications addressing physiological processes for the augmentation and maintaining of physical
condition are expected. Their application and use in competitive sporting practice is also desired. The candidate
should have proof of having experience in control and monitoring training as well as the optimization of
performance in competitive/high-performance sports, preferably in the field of innovative metabolic bio-sensor
technology.

In addition to evidence of transfer attempts of scientific findings into training practice, the successful solicitation of competitive and non-competitive fundraising from third-parties as well as an excellent assessment in teaching is presupposed. Besides an interdisciplinary connectivity, experience abroad in academic institutions and Englishspeaking teaching experience is desired. The candidate’s active participation in the Bachelor´s, Master´s and teaching courses of study at the university, particularly in the courses of study for “B.Sc. Sport and Performance“ and ”M.Sc. Performance, Training and Coaching in Elite Sport “is also expected.

Conditions of employment are in accordance with § 36 Higher Education Act NRW i.e.:

• Successful completion of a university degree in sport science or related disciplines,
• Conferral of a doctorate,
• Pedagogic suitability,
• Post-doctoral (habilitation) qualification or equivalent scientific achievements.

The position involves obligatory teaching responsibilities of 9 weekly academic hours (45 mins) per semester (F1).

For applicants of a non-German origin, an adequate knowledge of the German language is a prerequisite as well as the ability to offer courses in German wihtin six semesters.
