Professor in Organic Chemistry

Uppsala University is a comprehensive research-intensive university with a strong international standing. Our mission is to pursue top-quality research and education and to interact constructively with society. Our most important assets are all the individuals whose curiosity and dedication make Uppsala University one of Sweden’s most exciting workplaces. Uppsala University has 44.000 students, 7.100 employees and a turnover of SEK 7 billion.

The Department of Chemistry - BMC is located within the Biomedical Centre in Uppsala. The department harbours most of the faculty's research in Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry and Biochemistry, as well as some research in Physical Chemistry. Research at the department takes advantage of the proximity to other branches of chemistry, in addition to interactions with biomedicine, pharmaceutics, physics and materials science. The department has around 100 employees, of which nearly 40 are graduate students and more than 10 are professors.

The department is involved in the platforms for proteomics and drug discovery at SciLifeLab, which is a national infrastructure for research in Life Sciences. Uppsala University also has a well-developed innovation office that provides support for commercialization and external collaboration.

Together with our colleagues at the Department of Chemistry - Ångström Laboratory, we are responsible for the Uppsala University Bachelor's and Master's programs in Chemistry. We share responsibility for Uppsala University's Master of Science program in Chemical Engineering with the Pharmaceutical Faculty, and contribute with courses and course modules to other training programs within and outside the faculty.
