Professor of Antimicrobial ResistanceDepartment of Immunology and Microbiology The University seeks to appoint a Professor of Antimicrobial Resistance to the Department of Immunology and Microbiology to commence as soon as possible. Job description When considering applications for the professorship, the main emphasis will be on the applicant's ability to document a high level of original scientific work at an international level within the area of bacteriology with special focus on the development of bacterial resistance and tolerance to antimicrobials in microbial biofilms. Areas of special interest include in vitro and in vivo models of biofilm infection and bacterial resistance to antimicrobials, the role of mutators in bacterial evolution and the development of antimicrobial resistance, bacterial evolution and adaptation during chronic infections, and the role of oxidative stress in bacterial evolution. The professor will be responsible for the teaching of medical students in medical microbiology at the bachelor level, and experience with course leadership will therefore be an advantage. Furthermore, the professor will be responsible for clinical courses involving microbiology teaching for medical students at the master level and applicants with a medical training will therefore be preferred.
