Research Associate in Microbial Systems Biology

Applications are invited for a Post-doctoral Research Associate position in the group of Dr James Locke at the Sainsbury Laboratory, to carry out fundamental research in the field of microbial systems biology. The position requires both experimental and quantitative skills.

The successful candidate will have experience of working with cyanobacteria, another microbial system or mammalian cells, as well as a strong background in systems or synthetic biology. Candidates must have extensive microscopy, microfluidics and data analysis (preferably in MATLAB) skills, and publications in the field of systems biology and/or synthetic biology. Experience with single cell microscopy will be advantageous.

Applicants must have a PhD in Systems Biology, Biology, Physics, or related field and have expertise in live cell imaging. Experience in the mathematical modelling of regulatory networks would be a bonus.

Good communication skills are essential as the post holder will need to work well in a team and collaborate with other researchers in the Institute. Candidates should also demonstrate a history of science communication (e.g. presentations, outreach activities, teaching).
