The Opportunity

An opportunity has arisen to join the immunology and Diabetes Laboratory which is conducting research to identify potential new mechanisms focusing on how diet, the microbiota and microbial SCFA may affect the immune system, gut homeostasis and therefore improving the burden of people with diabetes and related complications.


The incumbent will be a highly motivated researcher joining a team with a track record in research excellence. The team utilises a visionary integrative approach stemming from the fields of immunology, metabolism and microbiome research to address fundamental questions in diabetes research. 


The Research Fellow will be responsible for the conduct of research under limited supervision, development of research-related material, involvement in professional activities and administrative functions connected with the area of research. 


The successful candidate will have a track record in mouse handling and dissection, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, genotyping, real-time PCR, cell culture, ELISA and western blotting. Experience with genomics and 16S bacteria DNA processing, GC-MS, metabolomics, proteomics protocols and preparation of animal ethics applications, and knowledge of bioinformatics would be advantageous.


This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
