Are you passionate about innovative food texturing technologies like 3D printing and want to explore the options of such technologies for creating healthy and nutritious food products?  We are looking for you!

We are seeking an enthusiastic and enterprising researcher in the field of food science and technology, who contributes to the development of innovative processes and new products for the food industry.  

Wageningen Food & Biobased Research, part of Wageningen University & Research, offers a challenging and market-oriented environment where motivated scientific professionals conduct research for companies, government organisations and knowledge institutes. The Food Technology group develops knowledge and technology for the food industry and renders them applicable in practice. Examples include our research on products with less salt and fat, plant-based meat replacers and innovative food processing methods like 3D printing. The scientific focus in our work is on the relationship between product formulation, ingredient interaction and properties created by high tech equipment and software.
As a researcher you will contribute to the further scientific development of this research area by:

  • Work on multidisciplinary applied-research projects in which innovative processes such as 3D printing are developed and applied;
  • elaborating research results into reports, publications and presentations for our clients;
  • translating fundamental scientific insights towards scalable manufacturing processes and innovative products which are coherent with societal trends related to sustainability and health;
  • working together with our partners, and building and maintaining an effective (inter-) national network, to realise the desired market position in this research area.

We expect you to be an enthusiastic and inspiring team player, full of creative and innovative ideas, and able to develop and carry out concrete project plans together with your colleagues and industrial partners.

Futher we expect:

  • An ambitious colleague with quality awareness and an inquisitive mind, and the ability and ambition to become a leading scientist in the field of food texturing technology;
  • a PhD degree in a relevant area, e.g., Food Sciences, Process Engineering, Materials Science or Chemical Technology;
  • subject knowledge on physical-chemical properties of food products and their ingredients, with affinity on application of high tech technologies on food; 
  • excellent communication skills and good verbal and written command of English, Dutch is a plus.
You have or will develop the ability to lead larger and more complex projects for which, next to your scientific knowledge, competencies like organizing, cooperation and development of colleagues are particularly required.

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between € 2790 and € 5183 for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 10/11). Additionally, a contract for 0.8 FTE can be discussed. This position is not a phd position.
